4 Steps to Improve Your Diet - Mango Health Contest

During the past month I have had the great pleasure of working with Mango Health in partnership with their "What's Your Mango Wish" contest.  Mango Health, a nutrition and health app design company based out of San Francisco, received over 700 entries to their contest which encouraged registrants to submit their ultimate nutrition wish for better health.  Their winner, Kristen Dock of Indianapolis, was awarded 6 nutrition therapy sessions to fulfill her wish of learning better cooking habits, losing weight, and leading an overall healthier lifestyle.  I was honored to be selected by Mango Health to work with Kristen.

In Mango Health's latest contest blog update "4 Steps to Improve Your Diet", you can read about Kristen's progress along with tips from me on easy ways you can make diet improvements.

Why You Should Eat Avocados Every Day.........

I greatly enjoy avocados and the nutrition value they provide.  Whether making guacamole, adding to salads, or incorporating into baked goods, they are a very versatile fruit.  Below is a link to a good article by Frank Lipman MD found on www.mindbodygreen.com on the benefits of avocados.

Dairy Free Ranch Dressing / Vegetable Dip

This is an easy recipe for a ranch dressing / vegetable dip I recently created for my family. Enjoy!

- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup So Delicious® brand coconut milk yogurt, plain
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp. each onion powder, dried basil, oregano, dill
- Pinch of salt and pepper

Mix all ingredients together and chill. Serve with fresh vegetables as a dip or use over salad for dressing. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and use within two days.

Going Gluten and Casein Free - Does This Diet Affect Those with Autism?

Thank you Indy's Child Magazine for the opportunity to speak on the GFCF diet as an option for assisting those with autism (article link here).

Contrary to what many still believe (also noted in the article), the gut-brain connection has been positively demonstrated in several studies over the years. One particular study, "The Possibility and Probability of a Gut-to-Brain Connection in Autism" published by Reichelt et. al. in 2009 can be referenced at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19917211.
